For over two decades, London-born DJ Kensho has been based in Thailand and has been a popular member of the South East Asian music scene.
A top rate performer delivering energetic sets, from corporate events to vinyl-only hip-hop sessions at Phuket Town’s Vinyl Café, he has an eclectic taste in music and is able to turn his hand to whatever the occasion needs, creating the perfect atmosphere for any event.
An in-demand DJ, Kensho is one of Asia’s hottest musical exports. He has amassed a long list of DJ residencies at well known nightclubs and international 5-star hotels
Twentythree years of working as a professional DJ has seen him perform across Europe, UK; France, Amsterdam, Portugal and Asia; Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cambodia and extensively across Thailand.

2017 to Now
- ART Beach Club (Koh Lipe, Thailand)
2016 ended with a new residency back in Thailand, this time on the small island of Koh Lipe known as the Maldives of Thailand in a brand new high-end beach club www.facebook.com/ArtBeachClub
Kensho was not only employed as Entertainment Manager and Head DJ but he also played a key-role in marketing and branding the beach club and also booking international acts, kicking things off with Bruno from Ibiza www.brunoibiza.com, who is an integral part of Ibiza’s musical heritage, releasing more than 20 compilations, most of them for CAFÉ DEL MAR selling millions of copies.
Throughout 2017 and 2018 he performed at numerous pool parties and events alongside 3 other talented Thai resident DJs and helped to book and coordinate many artists from Asia and around the globe, including the likes of Celeste Siam, DJ Jeffy and Mc Birdy Hero, Judy House Nation, and various Sideshow Kuts artists including DJSG from Bangkok Invaders plus lots more.
One of the biggest highlights of 2017 was the Songkran 3 day party featuring guest DJs and famous Thai superstars, Zeal live band, Pop Pongkool, Ae, Jirakorn AKA The Black crow, M Auttapon and R the star.
Most recently Kensho performed at the Black Cabin in Bangkok www.facebook.com/blackcabinbar for the Assignments in Asia Tour with his long term friend and partner in crime DJ Criminal www.djcriminal.com, Emcee beat boxer and producer Carnage the Executioner carnagetheexecutioner.com and DeVon Dvrg Grey. Truly one of the best shows so far in 2018!
Kensho has lots planed for the rest of the year and the future, he will start to perform nightly at his shop / cafe and bar, Kali Koh lipe www.facebook.com/kalikohlipe, run by him and his wife and is always working on his music production, remixes, art and is available for bookings worldwide for the rest of 2018 and beyond.
2016
- Europe Extended Tour – TUI Discovery and ADE Festival
In 2016, Kensho traveled to Europe and started a residency on the newly built cruise-ship called TUI Discovery by Thomson Cruises and took up residency at Bar 11 located on the top floor, performing with the very talented Jonny D on saxophone www.facebook.com/JonnyDSaxophone.
Together they traveled and performed around the Mediterranean, visiting some of the most popular destination cities and island of Spain, Italy, France and Portugal.
One of the biggest highlights from that year was the opening night of the ship where they performed with Grammy award winning pop-star Jess Glynne www.jessglynne.co.uk. The christening celebrations were put together by the choreographers behind the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics.
After finishing the contract on the ship, he traveled again in mid October on a short tour to Amsterdam for the ADE Festival covering the whole spectrum of electronic subgenres, with over 2,500 artists performing in 140 of Amsterdam’s finest music and nightlife spaces. Kensho performed for the 3rd time at The Kashmir Lounge Dj Cafe, voted Best Coffee Shop /DJ Cafe (Amsterdam) www.kashmirlounge.com with a long line up of artists including D-Funk, Funkliners, Essex Groove, Le Libertin, Isiana, LRS, Daniel Quiros, Djr Molina and Dj SkyFunker. He finished off the trip spinning an exclusive set at Cheech and Chong’s coffee-shop with local talent and Soulboy from www.sideshowkuts.com
After finishing in Amsterdam he then traveled back to Thailand and the next chapter in his life and career began. . .
2015
- Kam Pek Rooftop Bar and Club
In 2015, Kensho moved to Macau (China) and took up residency at Kam Pek performing each week with local talent from Ecstatic Bass Macau www.facebook.com/EcstaticBass including guest djs of www.sideshowkuts.com from around the globe including D – Funk dfunk.co.uk and many more quality artists. He also had a month’s residency at the very popular nightspot D2 Club and the weekly Saturday Social in Heart Bar at Ascott Hotel. Along side these, he played at various private and corporate events and parties in Macau, Hong Kong and China.
One of the biggest highlights of that year was the Halloween party at the Hard Rock Hotel featuring the DMC World Champion Mr Switch dj-mr-switch.com and a very special sound styled party for the James Bond “Spectre Movie” at Gallaxy Macau, the Opening & Launch Event of a new model from the iconic car brand, Aston Martin.
2014
- Xana Beach Club www.xanabeachclub.com - Aple.De.Ap, Black Eyed Peas
Kensho was blessed to perform alongside a long list of celebrity guest DJs and artists while working at Xana including the legendary Apl.de.Ap,Grammy award-winning rapper, DJ, and part of international super group, the Black Eyed Peas www.blackeyedpeas.com. The performance was part of a Disaster Relief event to raise money for the victims of the Philippines typhoons and floods.
2013
- Hard Rock Hotel, Macau & Nest, Bangkok – James D’lay
The end of 2013 ended with a short Halloween Asia tour performing with Breaks Poll winner and King of the Big Bad Bass UK’s James D’lay at the“Hard Rock Hotel” in Macau and “Nest” in Bangkok, and finishing off In sunny Phuket Thailand.
- Xana Beach Club www.xanabeachclub.com – Phuket, Thailand – Jeremy Healy
Performing twice alongside the UKs very own Jeremy Healy www.jeremyhealy.com DJ and producer, Healy, has performed headline sets across the world and has been the event musical director for the most prestigious fashion brands – from Christian Dior to Emilio Pucci and Hillfiger. He has also worked with international artists including Justin Timberlake, Mary J Blige and Rihanna.

DJ Kensho layed down beats for this now Phuket based MC at the popular underground venue, the Vinyl Café. With over 10 years of writing, recording and performing experience in Australia, you could consider Dtach a veteran of the art; His lyrical content is a perfect mix of positive and negative, with complex metaphors that will glide over the heads of most, this was one of many events held at Vinyl with a long list of other talented artists from around the globe.
- Xana Beach Club – DJ Residency
2013 kicked off to a fantastic start with an Asia tour locked down and starting as resident DJ for “Xana Beach Club” one of Phuket’s most stylish beach clubs and the brainchild of the renowned Singapore nightclub “Attica”. As a leading event company put it, ‘XANA www.xanabeachclub.com was Phuket’s first REAL beach club’. His debut saw him perform for the after party of MTV Series, “The Challenge Rumble in the Jungle”.
Kensho’s weekly “Foxy Fridays” and soon after “Coco Loco” nights gained momentum since the concept’s first launch. It was on a slightly more commercial tip, but still maintaining the quality that Kensho has become known for. Taking the sandfloor on a journey from Old School Bootlegs, to Nu School commercial dance music with some classic Hip Hop cuts thrown in for good measure. He quickly became well known for his diverse selection of styles and rocking the dance floor.
2012
- Vinyl Café – Goldie
At the start of 2012, DJ Kensho along with Sideshow Kuts set up a night at his monthly ‘home from home’ Vinyl Café Phuket with Drum n’ Bass legend Goldie www.facebook.com/Goldie (UK). This event was a truly memorable moment for Phuket and all that attended to witness the very best of Underground sounds from the deadly duo.
2011
- Secret Cove Beach Party – Barry Ashworth, Dub Pistols
Kensho was privileged to take to the decks with one of his hero’s in the breaks scene Barry Ashworth, the head honcho of Dub Pistols dubpistolsmusic.co.uk and the main driving force behind the act. Barry Ashworth DJs out solo all around the world as well as playing host to Dub Pistols Sound System LIVE featuring vocalists Rodney P and MC Sir Real.
- The White Box – Cut Killer
One of Kensho’s many guest appearances at the White Box with the cream de le cream of Paris, DJ Cut Killer www.djcutkiller.com He was a DJ for MC Solaar’s concerts, scratcher on IAM member Akhenaton’s solo album, and a radio show on Radio Nova. Cut Killer performed a memorable role as himself in a scene from the cult movie “La Haine”, one of Kensho’s top 10 films and seeing that movie scene back in the earlier 90s definitely inspired Kensho to become a DJ.
- The White Box – Kid Massive
This international producer has had quite the impressive career to date. With productions supported by dance elite such as Tiesto and David Guetta, Kid Massive www.kidmassive.com is a DJ/producer/remixer on the rise with a signature sound of driving rhythm and often vocal driven house, so something different from Kensho’s usual breaks and bass, which led him to play a much more house orientated set for the night.
- The White Box – Bruno from Ibiza
Bruno from Ibiza www.brunoibiza.com was resident DJ at CAFÉ DEL MAR for 8 years then BLUE MARLIN for 3 years and most recently at ATZARO for 5 years. He also played regularly at SPACE, PACHA, PRIVILEGE, KM5, EL AYOUN and for the DIRTY DIAMONDS villa parties. Bruno from Ibiza has released more than 20 compilations; most of them for CAFÉ DEL MAR selling millions of copies worldwide. This successful night saw Kensho show off his diverse ability, spinning a mixture of blends and music on the night warming up for the Ibiza legend.
- European Tour – Amsterdam, England, France and Portugal
Some of Kensho’s most recent excursions included an European tour back in 2011 this is when he began to help set up and perform at nights and events for Sideshow Kuts, a unique Global Alternative Club Night/Outfit and DJ Network which has had a stunning rise establishing massive success in Asia, Europe and U.S.A and focusing on quality music, art and live performances. Sideshow Kuts was nominated at this year’s Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards London 2014 for the “Top 5 Club nights in the World” along side the Like Of “Low Down & Dirty” and other major clubs and festivals.
2010
- Sound Nightclub, Phuket
A real turning point in Kensho’s career in Asia was when he started his residency in 2010 at the infamous Bed Supperclub’s Sound Phuket and had host to a great team of local talent and an incredible list of international djs such as Calvin Harris, DJ Craze, Martin Solvig, Dj Dan Sandy Riviera, Fresstylers, LTJ Bukem and lots more.
